Sheriff issues Warning on Attempted Abduction in the area

Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report from a 16 year old female victim. She was attempting to walk home and was lost. A vehicle stopped and the drive offered her the use of his cell phone. She got into the vehicle to use the drivers phone to call for assistance. The drive pulled away and would not let her use the phone. She asked to be let out. The driver locked the doors and continued driving. She saw the driver reach for what she believed was a handgun. She unlocked the door and jumped out of the moving vehicle. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.
The suspect is white male in his 30’s or 40’s slightly overweight with brown hair, beard, and mustache that were neatly trimmed.
The vehicle is described as a silver minivan, not new.
This occurred on Saturday morning (04-16-2016) between 9:15am and 9:30am. The subject picked her up on W. River Rd. near Green Creek Rd. She jumped out of the van on Green Creek Rd north of W. River Rd. It is believed that other vehicles were in the area when the subject picked her up.
