Have Your Say: Proposed Relocation of Muskegon Heights Post Office

You may have heard about the U.S. Postal Service’s proposal, published on December 18, 2024, to relocate the Muskegon Heights Post Office, currently located at 2517 Peck St., Muskegon Heights, MI. The need for this change arises from space deficiency issues in the current facility, prompting the Postal Service to seek a more suitable location within the 49444-zip code area.

What’s Proposed:

Real Estate Specialist Greg Shelton is leading this effort, and several options are being considered for a new facility where you will continue to access postal services:

1. Leasing an Existing Building: This option involves finding a retail-only space of about 770 square feet with a minimum of 9 parking stalls.
2. Leasing Land for a New Building: Another scenario includes leasing a parcel of roughly 11,000 square feet to build a Postal Service-owned facility dedicated to retail services.
3. A Combined Facility: The third option would secure a new location that accommodates both retail and carrier services, requiring around 7,400 square feet and at least 53 parking stalls.

While the search for a new location takes place, you will continue to access retail services at the current Post Office until all preparations are finalized.

Your Input Matters:

The Postal Service values your opinion and invites you to share your comments on the proposed relocation. You can express your thoughts within a 45-day period by sending them to:

United States Postal Service
Attn: Muskegon Heights, MI Relocation
PO BOX 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103

It’s important to note that the Postal Service does not receive tax funding for its operations. Instead, it relies on revenue from the sale of postage, products, and services. Your feedback is essential to ensure that the new facility continues to meet the needs of the Muskegon Heights community.

Take this opportunity to make your voice heard and help shape the future of postal services in your area!
