WUVS 103.7 the Beat Announces New Radio Talk Show With a Focus on Empowering Women

This week marks the debut of the Gift of Gab, a new radio show featuring topics and issues pertinent to women. It is particularly geared toward the urban woman and the woman of color.

Host Teresa K. said, “Women are stakeholders in the community. We have purchasing power, and we make so many great and important decisions daily. But are we being heard? This show provides a safe space where collectively, as diverse women of all hues, our voices count and our voices matter.”

The show’s subject matter is gleaned through the host’s surveys and round table discussions with women about what was important to them. Topics to be addressed range from health and wellness to relationships, and from grief to politics. There will be in-studio guests, and audience members may weigh in via phone, Facebook, or email.

The debut show will focus on the importance of self care, and features four women from various walks of life who will share their experiences.

Although the show is geared toward women, all are welcome.

The Gift of Gab airs 2-3 p.m. Wednesdays beginning July 25 on WUVS 103.7 the Beat, West Michigan’s Community Radio Station.

Teresa K., also known as Teresa Taylor-Williams, is a journalist who has been a fixture in West Michigan media for the last 20 years. A solid storyteller and self-described optimist, Teresa has made a career out of having a nose for news and advocating for the underserved. She has been honored by the Michigan Press Association for her investigative work published in the Muskegon Chronicle. Her articles may be found on the WUVS 103.7 FM website, the Muskegon Tribune, and the Mlive/Muskegon Chronicle archives. Teresa believes in giving back, and her favorite mentoring role is serving as a writing coach at the Missouri Urban Journalism Workshop at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Along with journalism, she is also an educator who works as an adjunct professor at Baker College of Muskegon and Muskegon Community College. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geology & Planning with a minor in Journalism from Missouri State University, and she has a Master’s degree in Communications from Grand Valley State University. Teresa is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree in Education from Concordia University-Portland. She enjoys writing, traveling, and family time. A native of Kansas and Missouri, she and her two sons reside in West Michigan.
