Bumstead urges Governor Whitmer to support proposed casino in Muskegon County

“I’m very disappointed with the Detroit City Council and the Wayne County Board of Commissioners’ decision to get involved and pass resolutions opposing a casino that is 200 miles across the state,” said Bumstead, R-Newaygo. “Muskegon County is not included in the defined competitive market area of any of three tribal casinos within a two-hour drive, so there is no logical reason why Detroit and Wayne County would be opposed to a casino in our community.”

Muskegon County Road Commission speaks on Tuesday’s Road Millage Vote

Millage Ballot info: The money raised can’t be used for any other purpose. The proposal would increase property taxes for 10 years by a 1.5 mill county-wide, which would raise approximately $6,750,000 in the first year. That means that for every $100,000 in the market value of a home and $50,000 in taxable value, property taxes would increase by $75 per year. (Muskegon County Clerk Website)
