County-Wide Youth Forum Happening March 31, Public Welcome
Andrew Trzaska | March 23, 2011
After a 2010 full of turmoil involving children, teenagers and young adults in Muskegon County, Muskegon City Hall will play host to a county-wide youth forum later this month.
Muskegon City Commissioner Clara Shepherd was highly involved in the planning of this forum. In the planning of the event, Shepherd invited all public and private schools in the county to send representatives to the forum.
“This is young people together working to address community problems,” said Shepherd.
The forum’s goal is to allow the youth of the community to discuss the violence, safety and economic issues they face growing up in the area, and to work on ideas and solutions that can be brought to decisionmakers.
This meeting of the youth forum will be held on Thursday, March 31 at 5:30 p.m. in the public meeting chambers at City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend, especially other young people not on the panel of representatives. Whether or not this will be a one-time event or future meetings have been scheduled is not certain at the time.
