UPDATE: Date Change for Open House for Neighborhood Stabilization Program Houses in Muskegon

Andrew Trzaska | August 10, 2011

The date of the open house set to showcase several city-owned and rehabilitated houses currently for sale has been moved up to this Sunday, August 14th from 1-3 p.m.

As previously reported, the City of Muskegon purchased over two dozen houses using funds from the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) grant awarded to them last year to fight blight.

Some houses were demolished to make way for new houses, while others were renovated and brought up to code for occupancy, and put on the market.

The City’s Department of Community and Neighborhood Services (CNS) oversees the housing rehabilitation projects.

As of Tuesday’s City Commission meeting, four homes were closed upon in the past month, and three more were sold since put on the market late last year.

While more houses are being refurbished and built in the coming months, this leaves only two completed locations on the CNS office’s list for sale, located at 143 E. Isabella and 1204 Ransom Street.

These remaining two NSP houses will available for viewing on Sunday during the open house times.

This event was tentatively scheduled for August 28.
