The fight against blight in Muskegon Heights

By: Emily Guiles There have been 61 houses torn down and counting in the fight against blight in Muskegon Heights. The demolitions officially began in July of 2015, and is being led by Muskegon County Land Bank Director Tim Burgess. Another 35 homes in the Northeast quarter of the city are being prepped for demolition by undergoing asbestos treatments. Recent Shootings in Muskegon Heights

By: Emily Guiles On December 8th a motorist was shot while driving on Park St on Tuesday afternoon. Witnesses said shots were fired first on Maplewood Ave near Norton Ave continuing on to Park St where the victim, now identified as 25 year old Gregory Roberson, crashed through a shed and into a tree. On November 9th Muskegon Heights City Council Meeting, the new Mayor, Kimberly Sims, was sworn in along with the three elected councilmembers.
