Spring Clean-Up Month Underway in Muskegon Heights
Andrew Trzaska | May 7, 2013
The City of Muskegon Heights designates every May as Spring Cleanup Month.
The city has several incentives for spring cleaning efforts on properties around the city.
Stickers for city haul-away of bulk items are half price through May 31.
Free dumping will be held at the Department of Public Works building at 3124 Wood Street on two consecutive Saturdays: May 11th and May 18th, from 8:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. A discounted charge will still be assessed for each tire disposed, ranging from $3 to $5. Identification proving residency in the City of Muskegon Heights is required to take advantage of the free drop-off.
During the month of May, the city will also provide free lawn bags to group cleanup projects, while supplies are available. The city must give approval to the project to receive the bags.
The city will also focus its efforts on its annual Spring Clean-up Day, which will take place on May 18. This year, the city has emphasized the Farmers Market, Rowan Park and Glade Street as target areas that it wants to clean up. It intends to paint and fix up parts of the market that day as part of its work.
The city has invited any and all volunteers to work on cleaning up around the city.
