Muskegon Heights Suffers Third Homicide in one week, all closely connected.

On September 5, 2015, at 6:00 AM Officers were dispatched to the area of Hoyt and Cleveland Street on a deceased person in the alley. On arrival officers discovered Darnell Byrd, 21 years of age deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

On September 4, 2015 at 1:26 PM Muskegon Heights officers were dispatched to the area of Amsterdam and Ninth Street on a man down from a gunshot wound. On arrival officers located the victim Marquis Grider-Sims 22 years of age. Grider-Sims was transported to Hackley hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Both victims are closely linked to the shooting-homicide incident which occurred August 30, 2015 in the 600 block of Hovey Street.
