Andrew Trzaska | December 12, 2012
From a press release obtained from Muskegon Catholic Central:
“Mike Holmes, the long-time hall of Fame football coach for Muskegon Catholic Central, announced his retirement at the end of the team’s banquet at MCC on Monday night. Coach Holmes’ career spans 25 years at MCC and includes 212 victories and 6 state championships (1990, 1991, 1995, 2000, 2006, 2008). His teams made 18 playoff appearances, 13 semifinal appearances, and 7 finals appearances. This year’s team, in addition to advancing to the state semifinals, also achieved Academic All-State honors as a team.
“Mr. Holmes brings all the right things to our students every day; it is impossible to replace an outstanding educator and role model who has meant so much to so many over the years. We are very thankful for the tradition of excellence he has built and maintained. We will begin the search process very soon, and we plan to continue with the precepts and standards that are in place, thanks to Mr. Holmes and his staff”, said Head of School Robert Bridges. The position will be posted this week and the school hopes to announce the new coach early in 2013.”
