Department of Justice Grant Helps Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office Get Buy-1-Get-1 Deal on Bulletproof Vests

The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office will be able to purchase two bulletproof vests from a grant offered by the federal government.
Muskegon’s County Commission gave unanimous approval to pay $592.81 into the Bullet Proof Vest Partnership program of the United States Department of Justice.
The DOJ will pay in $592.81 as well, bringing the total cost of the vests to $1,185.62. This essentially gets the county a buy-one-get-one-free deal on the expensive pieces of equipment.
The money will come from the Sheriff’s Office’s forfeiture fund.
The vests are expected to last 5 years before being upgraded again.
