Muskegon City Commission Sets 2012 Goals, Including Neighborhood, Sappi, Pere Marquette Revitalization

City commissioners agreed upon Sappi site redevelopment, neighborhood revitalization, downtown zoning changes and cooperative service agreements as their top priorities. Employment diversity and L.C. Walker arena support were tied for 5th/6th place, while Pere Marquette enhancements and a downtown casino were tied for 7th/8th place.

With the county’s recent budget crunch, solicitations for funding the patrol unit were publicly extended to keep it running. Three groups stepped forward: The Holton chapter of the American Legion, American Bikers Aiming Toward Education (ABATE), and the Indiana-based company Family Events, who operates Muskegon Bike Time and the Hot Rod Power Tour.

Muskegon Heights Firefighters Honored For Saving Lives Of Two Residents

The Muskegon County Medical Control Authority awarded each firefighter certificates for “exemplary work in AED and CPR”. These are only awarded to people when the recipient of their treatment is released from the hospital in a healthy state.

1000 Encouraged to Attend Muskegon Heights Public Schools “Town Hall” Meeting On Wednesday 2/15 At 6 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the performing arts center at Muskegon Heights High School and will run from 6 to 7:15 on Wednesday. Questions must be submitted in writing and should focus on topics relating to the district. Muskegon Heights High School Alumni Association President Joe Warren worked for months with others to get this meeting set. He challenged the community to “get off Facebook” and come to the meeting to hear facts and start taking action.
