Armed Robbery suspect captured

During the evening hours of February 1, 2015, Officers of the Muskegon Police Department were dispatched to 1075 W Laketon Ave on a report of a male who had just committed a robbery.  The suspect fled the area just prior to Officers arrival.

Officers located the suspect at an address in the 1400 block of Lakeshore Dr.  Officers made contact with a 32 year old Muskegon man who matched the description of the robbery suspect.  The man, who was very uncooperative with Officers, displayed a firearm while threatening Officers with violence.  The man retreated back into the residence.

Officers, who obtained a search warrant to enter the residence, secured the area and assistance was requested from the Michigan State Police Emergency Response Team.  After several contacts with Emergency Response Team officials, the man surrendered and was taken into custody at 5:55am.

Upon service of the Search Warrant, Officers were able to locate a replica handgun used in the robbery.

The male subject was lodged in the Muskegon County jail on multiple charges, and he is expected to be arraigned today.
