A Successful Evening: Recap of the Election Forum
On Monday, August 4, 2025, the USS LST 393 Veteran’s Museum in downtown Muskegon was buzzing with energy as community members gathered for an engaging and spirited Election Forum. Organized collaboratively by 103.7 The Beat, M106-FM, and the Muskegon Young Black Professionals, the event saw standing room only aboard the historic Navy ship, emphasizing the community’s strong interest in the upcoming elections.
The forum kicked off with a robust discussion among the mayoral candidates. Incumbent Ken Johnson, along with challengers Bob Garrettson and John Allen, engaged in a lively dialogue moderated by Attorney Brandon Davis from the Muskegon Young Black Professionals. They outlined their visions for Muskegon, addressing key issues facing the city and responding thoughtfully to audience questions.
Following the mayoral debate, the stage was shared by the candidates running for the position of city commissioner at large. Incumbent Rebecca St. Clair was joined by Kiley Jackson and John Allen, creating a dynamic and insightful conversation. Although Teresa Emory and Aaron Morris were unable to attend due to prior commitments, the attending candidates ensured a meaningful discussion that highlighted their perspectives and plans for the future of Muskegon.
The forum exemplified the power of community engagement, allowing residents to interact directly with their candidates and gain insights ahead of the primary election on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
