“We don’t want the barrier of a uniform, of transportation, to be in the way,” said Alena Zachery-Ross, Regional VP for Mosaica Education. “We will work with them to take that barrier away.”
Following up the uniform discussion, Mosaica Regional VP Alena Zachery-Ross urged parents to enroll or re-enroll their students sooner rather than later.
Initial sketches and details regarding a new high school uniform dress code at Muskegon Heights public school academy system were revealed at the district’s board meeting Monday night.
Parts of Mosaica’s own disciplinary system will be blended with the public school district’s old code of conduct, while also accounting for Michigan law.
Starting several meetings ago, a push from board vice president Ronald Jenkins to re-evaluate the policy included questions about how uniforms affected enrollment at the district. Board trustee Nate Johnson, the lone dissenting vote on the issue, said the board should not have pushed the issue in the few remaining weeks leading up to the new school year.
