Due to protests from all 60th District Court judges, misdemeanor defendants will continue to be handled by privately contracted attorneys instead of the new Public Defender Office.
Muskegon County will proceed with bringing its public defender system in-house after approving contracts for over a dozen attorneys and a department director.
