Muskegon Police Statement on Shooting (Friday 5-27-11)

Officers are investigating a shooting which happened around 6:30pm this evening in the City of Muskegon.

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Isabella Ave. on a report of a subject being shot.  Upon arrival, officers could not locate a victim but found evidence that would indicate someone had been injured at this location.

The victim, a 29 year old Muskegon resident, was found some distance from the scene by officers. An ambulance was called and the victim was transported to Mercy Health Partners where he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the abdomen.  He is listed in fair condition at this time.

The investigation is ongoing at this time. The motive for the shooting has yet to be determined.
