Muskegon City Commissioner Jay Kilgo Runs for State Senate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jay Kilgo Announces Campaign for Michigan State Senate in District 32
Muskegon, MI — Jay Kilgo (Ward 1 Muskegon City Commissioner) is announcing his candidacy for the Michigan State Senate in District 32, launching a campaign focused on strengthening local communities and ensuring every resident has a fair opportunity to thrive. Kilgo, a Democrat,
enters the race with deep roots in West Michigan and a commitment to delivering practical, people-centered solutions for the region.

“In every conversation I’ve had across this district, one thing is clear: families are working harder
than ever to get ahead — but too often, the system isn’t built with working people in mind,” Kilgo
said. “We need leadership that understands our schools, our healthcare system, and our
neighborhoods from the ground up — not just from Lansing.”

Kilgo’s campaign will center on key priorities that reflect the needs and concerns of District 32
residents:

● Expanding affordable, accessible healthcare
● Improving housing access and revitalizing neighborhoods and communities
● Fully funding K–12 public education and strengthening support for local schools
● Support for Small businesses and an economy that works for everyone

“This campaign is about building a future where everyone has a fair shot,” Kilgo said. “I’m ready
to listen, I’m ready to work, and I’m ready to deliver real results for our district.”
The campaign will host a series of community listening events throughout District 32 in the
coming weeks to hear directly from residents and shape policy solutions guided by their voices.
