Mayor Steve Warmington announces candidacy for 92nd Michigan House of Representatives

Muskegon, Mi, Steve Warmington, Mayor of the City of Muskegon, announced and filed papers today to run for the 92nd Michigan House of Representative seat being vacated by term limited Rep. Doug Bennett.

Warmington’s name will be placed on the August 3, 2010 Democratic Primary Election Ballot.

Warmington was elected to his third term as Mayor of the City of Muskegon last fall in an uncontested race.

Warmington is a small business owner in the Lakeside area of the city of Muskegon and had been very active with the Michigan Licensed Beverage Association for many years prior to him becoming Mayor.

Warmington said “after dealing with nine years of cutting budgets due to declining revenue sharing funds, it time that State Legislature steps up and addresses the fundamental reasons for government. Public Safety, deteriorating infrastructure, public education along with creating a climate that makes it easier to do business in Michigan to help job creation in the private sector are my priorities.”

Warmington has been credited over the past nine years for fostering projects in the City of Muskegon including: Cross Lake Ferry Service, Grand Valley State University’s Michigan Renewable Energy Center, many other job creation projects and Muskegon Bike Time.
