Cancellation of Rebel Road & Bike Time

The 2020 Rebel Road and Bike Time events have both been canceled due to the evolving
COVID-19 health crisis and its impact on the well-being and health of the community.
After extensive communication with local officials, organizers, and public health agencies, as
well as actively monitoring the evolving COVID-19, it became evident that the City of
Muskegon must cancel this year’s events.
“We did not make the decision to cancel lightly,” stated Frank Peterson, City Manager. “At the
end of the day, the wellbeing of our community comes above all else. We need to protect the
safety of our citizens, volunteers, and vendors. We know so much preparation went into the
event by the organizers and we waited until the last possible moment to make the best decision
based upon the data.” There was optimism that the events could continue with safety precautions
put into place, but with the recent spikes in COVID-19 throughout the country as well as
Michigan, city officials do not want to encourage out-of-town visitors to come to Muskegon this
year.

Peterson encourages motorcyclists of Muskegon County to visit downtown that weekend and
support the local bars, restaurants, and businesses but urges all others from other counties within
the state as well as those from other states to stay home this year. There will be no downtown
events the week of July 12th and the city will not have the amenities to handle large surges of
crowds downtown.
Muskegon looks forward to celebrating Rebel Road and Muskegon Bike Time in 2021.
