Open gym, weight training and other athletic preparation can start once building principals are hired, according to Metcalf. Eidelman indicated some principals would be hired by Thursday and the rest would be in place by Monday.
Dr. Donald Weatherspoon indicated he would have an answer from the Michigan Department of Treasury around August 1 regarding restructuring of the district’s debt.
One of the largest reforms that the club has worked on in recent years is how they interact with the athletic department. The Booster Club works through Muskegon Heights Athletic Director Keith Guy for all uses of funds to determine what is needed and make sure the district and the club do not duplicate efforts.
“The people there were just so excited to see our band,” said board trustee and band parent Trinnell Scott. “It’s really great to see people in Grand Haven have an appreciation of the Muskegon Heights marching band.”
