Enrollment for the 2027 winter semester at Muskegon Community College (MCC) will open on
Friday, October 30, 2026, beginning at 8AM. Prospective students can apply either online or in
person at MCC’s main campus located at 221 S. Quarterline Rd.

Among the highlighted offerings is MCC’s Community Health Worker program. Students can earn
a certificate in just one semester, preparing them to help individuals and families navigate health
care services, connect with community resources and address barriers to wellness.

“It’s a great entry into health care for anyone who might not be interested in the clinical area,”
said MCC Dean of Nursing, Lisa Gatti-Arnold. “Yes, it is a one-semester course that includes a 40-
hour internship. Once completed, the student will become a certified community health worker.”

According to MCC officials, there are more opportunities than ever before for free or 50 percent
off tuition. Michigan Reconnect recently lowered the qualifying age to 21 and older for those who
do not yet have a degree or certificate. Meanwhile, beginning in fall 2026, the Muskegon Area
Promise eliminated its high school grade point average (GPA) requirement, broadening eligibility
for students across the region. The expansion also introduced retroactive scholarship eligibility
for Muskegon County graduates from 2015 through the present.

“Winter semester is an excellent time to take that next step, whether you’re starting college,
returning to complete a degree or preparing for a new career,” said Sarah Luker, MCC’s director
of admissions. “We want students to know that college can be within reach at any stage of life,
and our programs are designed to help them turn their goals into practical next steps.”

MCC offers more than 70 programs and areas of study, including business, computer information
systems, CNC and health services. With programs designed to prepare students for in-demand
careers across West Michigan, the college provides pathways for students to build skills, advance
their education and pursue new professional goals.

Online and in-person classes begin the week of January 11, 2027.
