Fruitport’s Johnnie Kempker Wins Prestigious NFL Way to Play High School Award
MUSKEGON, Mich. — WUVS 103.7 The Beat is proud to celebrate a major achievement by one of our area’s own.
Fruitport High School standout Johnnie Kempker has been named the Week 17 recipient of the NFL Way to Play High School Award, a national honor recognizing student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship, proper playing technique, and respect for the game of football.
Johnnie earned the recognition for his impressive pick-six interception against Hopkins on October 24, a play that not only showcased his football IQ and athleticism, but also reflected the core values of safe and responsible play emphasized by the NFL at every level of the sport.
The NFL Way to Play program, fueled by Gatorade and in partnership with Hudl, highlights high school athletes across the country who lead by example. As a result of Johnnie’s recognition, the NFL Foundation has awarded Fruitport High School a $3,000 equipment grant through USA Football, directly benefiting the school’s football program and future student-athletes.
“This award is about more than one play,” the NFL stated in its official announcement. “It’s about commitment, discipline, and doing things the right way every snap.”
