The questions have been asked, Is Hip Hop Music Destroying America, Is Hip Hop A Threat To Our Children or Should Rappers Be Accountable For Their Lyrics? You be the judge. Earlier this year the song “Karate Chop” leaked online featuring rapper Lil Wayne. He raps, “Bout to put rims on my skateboard wheels/Beat that (expletive/woman genital) up like Emmett Till.” A few weeks later a song by rapper Rocko featuring Rick Ross was release called “You Don’t Even Know It.” Rick Ross raps, “Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it/ I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.” Yes, we have our freedom of speech right, but when is freedom of speech taken too far?……

Recap: Jackson Hill Spoken Words 2012! Open Mic

The crowd was big and so was the talent. We often hear that Muskegon is a city filled with talent and Friday night’s event proved just that. Performers of all ages and background shared their thoughts, experiences and stories. It was an evening filled with poetry, spoken words, lyrical expression and even song. The crowd was engaged, holding on to every word as each act carried out a different message. Topics of expression ranged from
finding love and overcoming odds to empowerment and everyday struggles.

The 2012 Jackson Hill Spoken Words event served as an outlet for participates to express themselves and release their views. It was an opportunity to be creative and share various forms of expression. We would like to thank all participates and observers who attended out first Spoken Words event. Comedian Roy Wood Jr Stars in TBS’s New Original Sitcom Sullivan & Son

Get ready for the premiere of TBS new sitcom Sullivan & Son tonight at 10pm. From stand-up comic to radio personality and now actor, Comedian Roy Wood Jr. will make his acting debut as a recurring guest star in the new TBS original sitcom Sullivan & Son starring comedian Steve Byrne. Byrne plays Steve Sullivan, a corporate attorney who finds new life behind the bar when he takes over his parents’ pub. Wood will play Roy Williams, an old friend of Steve and owner of a video rental/electronics store who never seems to be at work. He is one of the many faces that stops by the bar for a drink on a regular basis. Along with pals Owen and Ahmed, Roy tries his best (and fails) to help make Steve’s life run a lot smoother. The series is slated to air Thursdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). Listen as Roy discusses his role on Sullivan & Son, upcoming ventures, influences, comedy and much more.
