On August 12th, 2014, at 6:47pm Officers of the Muskegon Police Department responded to a Personal Injury Crash involving a Motorcyclist and a Motor Vehicle at the intersection of E. Sherman Blvd and Harris St in Muskegon.
Officers arrived to find that Fire Officials were freeing the Motorcyclist’s left leg, which was pinned between his downed motorcycle and the car that pulled out in front of him. The Motorcyclist, a 52 year old City of Muskegon resident, had been travelling on E. Sherman Blvd when the other involved vehicle, driven by a 58 year old Grand Haven resident, pulled off of Harris St in front of him. The unendorsed Motorcyclist laid his motorcycle down in an attempt to avoid a collision.
Once Fire Officials freed the Motorcyclist’s injured left leg, he was uncooperative in allowing Medical First Responders to remove his boot for treatment. He eventually allowed Medical First Responders to remove his boot and treat his injuries. Concealed inside of the Motorcyclist’s boot was a quantity of an illicit narcotic substance.
The Motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending for the possession of the illegal narcotic and for operating a motorcycle without a cycle endorsement. The other driver was cited and released with a right of way violation.
