Commissioners took some time outside of regular business at Tuesday’s county commission meeting to honor a Dalton Township youth who saved her sister by performing CPR earlier this month
After agreeing at their last meeting on April 12 to invite and honor her, District 8 commissioner Anthony Longmire presented a bronze star award statuette to 8-year old Kyra Foster today for her bravery and knowledge in the face of a bad situation.
“What I read about you… I thought we should, as a board, recognize you,” said Longmire.
Kyra’s younger sister Kylee ingested water while taking a bath one day earlier this month after slipping and falling.
Kyra performed CPR on Kylee after learning about it in school, likely saving her life.
Kylee is now okay, and Kyra has earned the admiration of the 11 county commissioners who acknowledged her today. Said district 1 commissioner and board chairman Ken Mahoney:
“We are all in awe. Thank you.
