Governor Whitmer Announces Additional Counties Impacted by Cold Weather Eligible for U.S. Small Business Administration Relief Following USDA Disaster Designation

LANSING, Mich. -- Governor Gretchen Whitmer today applauded the U.S. Small Business Administration for making Economic Injury Disaster Loans available to eligible small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, and nonprofits impacted by frost and freeze that occurred May 6-13, 2020. SBA extended the loans following the Secretarial Disaster Declaration obtained by Governor Whitmer from U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue in September.     The loans are available in the following counties: Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Lake, Leelanau, Manistee, Mason, Missaukee, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola, and Wexford.   “I am pleased that the Small Business Administration is providing relief to small businesses and nonprofits impacted by the cold weather following the disaster designation I […]

Homicide in the City of Muskegon

On November 26th, 2020, at approximately 11:48pm, Officers of the Muskegon Police  Department responded to the 100 block of Holbrook Ave on a report of shots fired in the area. Officers arriving on the scene located a vehicle containing a 25-year-old Muskegon man,  Cameron Cooper, who was found to be suffering from gunshot wounds to the head.  Cooper was transported by ambulance to Mercy ER for treatment. On November 15th, 2020, at 10:12PM First Responders from the Muskegon Fire and PoliceDepartments were dispatched to the south breakwall at Pere Marquette Park (1600 Beach St) ona report of subjects swept off the pier into Lake Michigan. Officers located two males whoreported that they had been on the pier with a 3rd man when high winds gusts coupled with largewaves swept the men into the Lake.
