After the State of Michigan started to allow morning alcohol sales in December, Muskegon Heights was the only municipality to continue the ban. The City Council voted 4-2 Monday night to start allowing morning sales due to a local business petition.

Muskegon Heights Fire Department Receives Grant For New Truck

Thanks to a grant from the federal government, the Muskegon Heights Fire Department will be able to bring in a new engine to revitalize its aging fleet. The $311,500 grant comes from the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Muskegon Heights Applying For, Hoping To Receive $900,000 Grant To Fight Foreclosure Blight

Andrew Trzaska | January 11, 2011 Muskegon Heights will submit a grant application to Muskegon County for $900,000 in federal grant money to help fight blight that resulted from recent foreclosures and vacancies. Update: I don't have to use the term alleged, its a fact that Muskegon Heights DDA Board President James Anthony sold 3 DDA properties to a business partner of his for $1000 each. All 3 properties together are worth over $150,000. There were people in the community who tried to buy those properties for the actual cash value, but were denied the opportunity.
