Markowski originated the suggestion of a public-private partnership in late December, when the service’s days were numbered and calls to keep the service running were at their highest.
Chapter 92, Article II, Section 8.31 of the city’s code of ordinances previously did not allow for street parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. from November 15 through April 15.
Muskegon resident Roberta King advocated for the resolution earlier this year. The passage of the resolution comes amidst previous rejections of similar policies by the City of Holland despite vocal public advocacy.

The field of candidates for the open seat included former commissioners Bill Larson and Chris Carter as well as the pastor of Bluffton Church Hugh Kallen and Dylan Hock, a member of Occupy Muskegon.

The city’s code of ordinance essentially requires institutions with liquor licenses to be caught up with their inspections, taxes and other legal obligations yearly to keep their authorization.
